New detoxification programs available.
Introduction
This quarterly issue of the newsletter addresses healthy biotransformation—popularly known as detoxification or cleansing. Particularly, we look at the related health conditions of chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and multiple chemical sensitivity and how detoxification helps. Our ultrasonic skin treatments are reviewed in detail. These skin treatments remove wastes and dead skin cells, supply vital nutrients to the skin and provide an energy boost to our skin to support healthy skin cell functioning. Treatment Spotlight

Chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and multiple chemical sensitivity are syndromes that continue to confuse the medical community. There seems to be no clear etiology (cause) and the symptoms vary in each patient. Patients experience extreme fatigue, muscle weakness and pain, sleep disorders and mental confusion. This list can seem endless and dramatically affect their lives. Many patients are frustrated with the lack of testing and treatments available to help them achieve a more functional life.
Recent studies suggest that there may be mutations in the mitochondrial DNA, this in turn can cause oxidative damage (the production of peroxides and free radicals that damage cells) to the cells and create a snowball effect intensifying the symptoms. The initiating cause of the DNA damage may include, but is not limited, to the following: a viral or bacterial infection, high stress, nutrient deficiencies, extreme exercise, gastrointestinal disorders, toxic exposures and/or a combination of these issues.
It is important to understand the underlying etiology for each patient. Diagnostic testing is available to determine the cause of the syndrome. Genetic tests can determine if the patient has inherited genes that can interfere with environmental factors. Nutritional testing is done to check the patient's underlying nutrient deficiencies that affect all biochemical processes in the body. Digestive testing is used to understand the patient’s intestinal health (yeast, abnormal bacteria, beneficial bacteria) and ability to absorb nutrients. Detoxification testing can determine if the patient is able to neutralize environmental toxins and the amount of oxidative stress in their body. Viral testing is used to determine if a virus is latent or active.
Treatments are individualized and vary depending upon the results of the testing. Treatments may include oral supplements, medications and/or nutritional intravenous therapies.
Patient Success Story

A 35 year old female presents with chronic fatigue syndrome diagnosed by a rheumatologist several years ago. She was unable to work and had difficulty taking care of her 3 children. After the initial consultation and investigation we decided proceed with detoxification and digestive testing. It was determined that she had very high oxidative damage, very low glutathione and high amounts of abnormal bacteria. We started treatment with weekly nutritional intravenous therapy to support her body and regain the vital nutrients that she lost through the gastrointestinal dysfunction. She was also able to start oral supplements used to destroy the pathanogenic bacteria and enhance the beneficial bacteria. Colonic hydrotherapy was also used to help restore normal bowel function. The patient reported increased vitality, she experienced “more good days than bad” after a few months.
The next phase in treatment was to increase her glutathione levels using intravenous therapy to decrease the oxidative stress on her body and especially her brain. The patient was able to regain part time employment and returned to enjoying spending time with her children. After not maintaining treatment for approximately one year, she returned to the clinic and reported that she “was starting to slide” back to the way she had previously felt. We performed genetic and nutritional testing. The results indicated that she had a genetic predisposition to impairment in her detoxifiction system and, as a result, her nutrient status was declining. We developed a treatment plan to increase her immediate nutritional needs. After this restoration phase, the patient committed to a long-term health maintenance plan. It has now been several years and the patient is leading a healthy active life.
Dermasound Elite – Ultrasonic Skin and Facial Treatments

The core technology behind the Dermasound is ultrasound. Ultrasonic energy is utilized to facilitate treating the skin and, at the Nardella Clinic, has largely replaced traditional methods. The treatment uses three unique treatment modalities—the ultrasonic peel, antioxidant infusion, micro-current therapy.
The Ultrasonic Peel
The first modality of the treatment allows for the superior exfoliation of dead skin cells. This is achieved through the interaction of distilled water and low frequency ultrasonic vibration. The distilled water is applied to the skin and a vibrating wand (applicator) is used to pass ultrasonic energy to the water molecules. This causes them to form a hollow cavity, like a bubble. Once the bubble reaches an unstable size, it pops! These thousands of bursting bubbles feel like a gentle mist over the area being treated. At a molecular level, these miniscule explosions are blowing off dead skin cells. The Dermasound Elite removes one-third to one-half of the dead skin cells at our skin’s surface. This is important, because healthy skin is in a constant process of rejuvenation—new skin cells replacing old skin cells.
The other advantage of this first modality is in treating congested pores or active acne. As the vibration passes from the surface down into the lower skin levels, it causes a temporary pressure to build in the deeper levels of the skin. This builds with every pass made over the area. Eventually the pressure focuses on the blocked pore, forcing the debris up and out of the skin without having to resort to painful mechanical extraction.
Antioxidant Infusion
The first modality has effectively purged oil and debris as well as leaving the skin with a fresh, new surface. This allows for the second modality of the Dermasound Elite to penetrate our Glymed Plus products through the top skin layer and into the deepest layers of the skin. The applicator is used to open microscopic pathways in the top layers of the skin. Penetrating important nutrients into the skin allows for increased uptake and utilization by the skin cells. This promotes optimal healing and rejuvenation. It is estimated that the active ingredients used in our skin treatments can remain active in the skin for up to 30 days as a result of using ultrasound technology.
Micro-current Therapy
The third modality in a Dermasound Elite treatment is called micro-current therapy. Micro-current therapy supplies an extremely low level electrical current to replenish ATP in the skin cells. This allows skin cells to function optimally—better acceptance of nutrients and removal of waste. The results are healthier, younger looking skin.

We have created programs to facilitate treatment for patients that will benefit from mild to advanced stimulation and support of the detoxification system. Each program is tailored to meet the individual patient’s needs. Patient fees are less with these programs compared to paying for individual consultation and treatment.
