Certain health conditions may require the involvement of a doctor in managing a patient's care.
Initial Consultation
The patient's health history and priorities are reviewed. Critical health statistics are captured with a bio-impediance analysis. A comprehensive nutrition management system is developed to guide caloric intake and food choices. Where dietary supplementation is appropriate this is specified and incorporated into the patient's routine. Sleep and activity routines are addressed. A manageable list of goals is established and the patient is provided with the tools to reach successful outcomes.
Follow-up Consultation
Here we determine if we are moving toward the goals set out in the initial consultation. Support and counseling are provided to facilitate changes that may be difficult for patients.
It is important to meet frequently when starting a new routine. Follow-up consultations are usually scheduled every week for the first four weeks to establish a good track record. After achieving success, these types of visits range in frequency depending upon each patient's circumstances.
